For several years now, the post-production of a movie is not linear any more and is on the opposite very parallelised.

Today, the artistic team of a movie must be able to work simultaneously on each part of the movie: while the colourist works on the colors of the first shots of the reel, the assistant should be able to change the editing, a junior colourist can prepare the shapes and basic color grading.
These changes must be available immediately to all technicians involved in the filmmaking process.
